Question and Answer radio session for Mother’s Day.. from Botox to Butts….
Dr Young was recently on Latinos Fm, discussing Mother’s Day, and he received some great questions. He also discussed TV shows, and Brazilian Butt Lift. Finally he informed all listeners of the May-”Bring-a-Friend” deal!
So starting with some listener’s Questions-
Q1 I have been dieting for years, and also exercising. But I still can’t lose the fat on my tummy! What can I do?
A1 Well this is a very common problem, no matter what we do with diet and exercise, some areas will persist, and sadly we can’t spot reduce, with exercise. If we really want to target(remove) a stubborn pocket of fat, then liposuction is the way. And this is certainly great for small areas, eg Chin, arms, saddle bags, love handles.
Liposuction should not be considered a quick fix for weight loss. Rather, it is a treatment for stubborn fat on the body. Full results are dependent on skin elasticity, among other consideration. Compression garments will help skin to not sag, creating that firm look. Full results may not be seen for six months.
Q2. Is Botox safe?
A2 Since its first medical use in 1992, Botox has been used by millions of patients around the world. It is one of the most well researched medicines on the market, and I certainly believe it to be safe. I personally receive it. So if it used properly, in the appropriate patient, there shouldn’t be any problem. I have years of experience with it’s use.
Q3. Dr I have a bad scar on my arm from a fall a few years ago, can it be removed?
A2. A very common problem, in plastic surgery we are famous for the myth of invisble scars. But whenever we cut/damage the skin, there is healing and unfortunetly sometimes our body heals too well. Hence excessive scars. So we are trained to use various techniques to leave the patient with as fine a scar as possible.
I revise many scars , and these may be traumatic( like yours), or from an operation eg mole removal.
On review of your scar I will be able to advise further!
Onto now the Brazilian Butt Lift.
This procedure has been around for years, and recently I have been trained it, it essentially entails a few areas of liposuction, then using the harvested fat, and re injecting it into the buttocks, to shape them.
It is a time consuming and precise operation, and certainly not for everyone.
Now onto TV shows. Recently I watched, Dr Phil, and he showcased Bridal-Plasty. A show where 12 brides to be competed each week, and finally the winner won the makeover she wished. Obviously set in Hollywood.
Some of the procedures requested on their “wish list”- Breast Augmentation, Botox, liposuction, teeth whitening…
The Plastic surgeon on hand was Dr Terry Dubrow.
It was quite interesting, a new take on reality cosmetic surgery shows. Alteration before the alter.
( I personally have been involved with many brides-to be over the years).
Other shows in the past- Extreme Makeover, Dr 90210, Ten years younger in ten days.
I was recently in Hobart for a conference, and I met Dr David Matlock, from Dr 90210. We discussed VASER, and the butt lift, and also Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation.
