Skin Care
Skin Care - lets look after our biggest organ!
Our skin has many important functions - sensory, protective cover, and thermal balance amongst others, in Australia we are blessed with a wonderful climate, this great sunshine is the skins arch-enemy.
Yes, sun damage apparent from wrinkles, pigmentation/tanning, pre-malignant and of course skin cancer are all reasons why we should protect ourselves from the sun.
Also note that the "safe" tan received from a solarium is an oxymoron. These machines concentrate UVA which damages collagen, and will speed up aging! Mostly it will tan you, without the burn.
So for a healthy beautiful skin here are my tips -
- Drink 2 litres of water daily
- enjoy a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetablesand protein
- try to have a sound, restful sleep
- take high quality anti-oxidant supplements, including mulitvitamins and minerals and an Omega 3 essential fatty acids
- practice a daily skin care regime
- know your skin type
- exercise regularly
- keep stress levels to a minimum
- limit intake of caffeine and alcohol
- avoid excess exposure to extremes of temperature
- SUNBLOCK/hats/sunglasses and light coloured long sleeved clothing outdoors.
- Don't smoke!
For Pigmentation problems, a thorough dialogue can be found in the FreshBlog.
Daily skin care routine-
This should include a cleanser, toner and anti-ageing cream/moisturiser and a sunblock.
For complete repair/ prevention of skin aging other creams may be necessary. Just as we have certain protocols for Skin Needling.
Yearly skin care regime-
1. Quarterly anti-wrinkle injections
2. monthly microdermabrasion/skin peel/facials
3. Omnilux monthly
4. twice yearly IPL facial rejuvenation( depending on goals).
